7th-8th grade students are developmentally in transition from simple to more complex modes of comprehension.  These students vary greatly in their emotional and intellectual understanding of the world around them.  As their mental neighborhoods grow, many students begin to take Earth Systems Science seriously.   This is probably due to the space program (cosmosphere) but also because of other major events such as earthquakes (lithosphere), storms and global change(atmosphere), deforestation (biosphere), and world population (Anthroposphere) are well publicized on television.  In fact, most events or conditions that affect their lives will be of interest to them.  This site should be interactive, providing students with pictorial representation of concepts, and supporting technical information in addition to definitions.

To receive a "Good",  the site should be uncomplicated, mildly technical with graphic illustrations, and have an easily accessible   glossary of all technical terms so scientific vocabulary can be increased.    All content should conform to state and federal standards for grade level and subject area.
